The University of Alabama offers a complete educational, cultural and social experience. You might enjoy attending Crimson Tide sporting events, engaging with the arts, or volunteering for community service projects. Maybe you’ll want to do all of the above, or something completely different. With more than 450 student organizations and an environment that encourages student involvement, you’ll find plenty to do during your time at UA.
A student-centered arts advocacy organization, Creative Campus is dedicated to building relationships that will serve as a voice for the cultural arts. The interns at Creative Campus — forty students with various majors and personal backgrounds — are constantly working with students, faculty and community members in order to engage The University of Alabama and Tuscaloosa with innovative ideas.
Service and Volunteerism
University of Alabama students are committed to service: In the 2014-2015 academic year, 26,000 UA students participated in more than 1 million hours of community service.
Housing and Dining
The University of Alabama is committed to providing all of its students with a comprehensive educational experience. There are numerous educational and social benefits for first year students living in the residence halls that may not be realized by those living off campus.
With this understanding, UA requires all first year students to live on campus except for those who live with parent(s)/guardian(s) or those who have compelling individual circumstances. Fortunately, we have a great selection of residence halls and a range of convenient dining options right here on campus.
Athletics and Recreation
Over the years, UA has won national championships in football, women’s golf, men’s golf, gymnastics and softball. You can keep up with the Crimson Tide at rolltide.com. If you want to be more than a spectator, we have a vibrant intramural sports program and one of the best student recreation centers in the nation. Visit urec.ua.edu to learn more about all the different ways you can stay in shape and have fun at the same time.
